Rolls-Royce Service & Repair

Rolls-Royce Limited was a British Company founded in 1904 by Charles S. Rolls and Fredrick H. Royce. Since the inception of Rolls-Royce they have been known for their ultra high quality automobiles and aircraft engines. When World War I broke out in Europe Rolls-Royce focused on production of high quality piston driven aircraft engines. One major development for the company was the v12 Merlin engine that put out over 1000+ Hp. Many RAF aircraft would be developed with powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin Engines. The American P-51 would also feature this engine along with some PT boats used in combat of WWII. Later in the 1940s Rolls-Royce would focus on developing jet aircraft engines.

Rolls-Royce’s first successful automobile was the 40/50 with over 6,000 examples being built in their early years. The Rolls-Royce 40/50 would end up being known as the Silver Ghost.  In 1921 Rolls-Royce opened up a production plant in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Springfield, MA facility would end up producing another 1,700 Ghost models until it was closed in 1931. With sales declining of the 40/50 Silver Ghost, Rolls-Royce introduced the Rolls-Royce Twenty. The Twenty was a smaller car than the Silver Ghost and it was significantly less expensive. In 1931 Rolls-Royce purchased their potential competitor Bentley. Rolls-Royce then would discontinue the Bentley 8 Litre since it was competing against the Phantom. Over the years Rolls-Royce would ownership would change hands a few times until now. Rolls-Royce eventually became a BMW controlled brand.

We put together a few notable things on Rolls-Royce cars that make them unique. The flying lady hood ornament is a nod to a secret love affair between a Car Illustrated magazine executive and his secretary. On modern Rolls-Royce models the flying lady is retractable to prevent damage or theft of the ornament. Today the flying lady ornament is available in a silver, gold or an illuminated clear version. The Rolls-Royce wheel center caps are on ball bearings to ensure the logo is always visible even when the vehicle is in motion. Hong Kong has the most Rolls-Royce vehicles on the roads than any other country.
